Historically, there is an official trace of the name 'Spaghetto' in the first dictionary of the Italian language by Nicolò Tommaseo and Bernardo Bellini (1819). Spaghetto is inserted here as a 'singular male diminution of string' and 'spaghetti soup' is mentioned: pasta the thickness of a small string and long, like sopracapellini. A curiosity: in 1957 the BBC broadcasts the first documentary about the production of spaghetti and the next day the television studios are blocked by phone calls from viewers asking for the names of the producers and distributors of spaghetti in order to buy them. Spaghetti are so versatile that they can be served with any seasoning, from fish to meat, from vegetables to cheese, but they are also great in white, seasoned only with extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of parmesan.
